About the list
The eighteen entries were chosen to hold four kinds of building side by side: berths and cabins made for short nights, houses fitted out around their interiors, sleeping rooms cut from snow, and Canadian resorts described as buildings. Nothing was included for a payment, and no hotel is set against another.
Each entry keeps to what published sources support: the hotel's own material, maps and open publications. Where a fact could not be confirmed, it was left out rather than guessed at. Winter buildings are treated as seasonal throughout, because they are taken down and raised again every year.
